Inflation Rate Information

The annual inflation rate for the United States is 7.7 % for the 12 months ended October  2022 after rising 8.2% previously, according to U.S. Labor Department data published Nov. 10. The next inflation update is scheduled for release on December 10. 

The inflation rate for consumer prices in the United States moved over the past 61 years between -0.4% and 13.5%. For 2021, an inflation rate of 4.7% was calculated. From 1960 to 2021, the average inflation rate was 3.8% per year.

Energy, food, goods, and services such as rent—pushed up prices (see chart) are big components of the month-on-month inflation rate.
